Better and Faster Health Care Within Reach

The only time I enjoyed being in a hospital was when Quennie gave birth to our first child. It was exciting that I can’t wait to have her admitted to the birthing room. I would gladly go back to the hospital the second time, the third time and even up to the 12th time if it is only because Quennie will be giving birth again.

Other than that, going to the hospital is something I would avoid. And if I ever get inside one, the first thing in my mind is how to get well the fastest way possible.

Sick and Bored

My personal experience in being admitted in a hospital was when I had an appendectomy. While the doctors and the staff were experts and treated me well, other aspects of being admitted in a hospital was not pleasant.

First, was the cost. The longer I stayed, the more expensive it is. That is why, my mother encouraged me to start walking the soonest time possible. It was painful to walk after a surgery but my mother’s voice had a hint of pain as she thinks of the bills.

Secondly, it is boring inside the hospital. I just lie down on the bed doing nothing. There would be tubes around me that makes every move a chore and sometimes painful. There would be cute nurses from time to time but that’s short-lived.

Lastly, hospitals make me weak. It might be psychological. The mindset that hospitals are for sick people makes me feel even sicker. But there is some truth to it since a patient can develop hospital-acquired infections, as well.

Better Ways

Today, people want things to be accurate and fast. And that should be true to hospital care and services. The more accurate the diagnosis, the faster the patient can be treated and get well. The faster the recovery, the lesser expenses the patient can incur.

The Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) is something I find unique with UPMC. The ASC is capable of performing same-day surgery. It uses minimally-invasive techniques so that the surgical incisions made during the operation are smaller. Smaller wounds are less painful and heal faster. As a result, the patient can go home just a few hours after surgery. Less time in the hospital means less cost and lesser risk to hospital-acquired infections.

As you can see, nobody needs to stay long at the ASC Recovery Room

Better Value

This is why UPMC offers better value for money. Patients will have access to medical experts. There are state-of-the-art diagnostic equipments that provide fast and accurate results. The Ambulatory Surgical Center requires no confinement. All of these in one place.

University Physicians Medical Center (UPMC) is located at the UPM-PGH Faculty Medical Arts Building (FMAB), PGH Compound, Taft Avenue, Manila. It is very near the Pedro Gil LRT Station and just a few steps away from the gate.
